Managed Computer Maintenance Dallas

Managed updates and preventative maintenance for network devices, Microsoft Windows, and Macintosh

We provide Dallas, Frisco, and Plano businesses managed software updates and maintenance for network devices, Microsoft server, workstation, and Macintosh computers.  Keeping your computers operating system and 3rd party installed applications up-to-date is essential for security and helps with stability and performance.  Preventative maintenance helps your system by optimizing the way data is stored on your hard drive and removes unnecessary files that slow your system down.

What should I expect when you perform updates on my computers?

We deliver daily operating system (i.e., Windows Updates) and 3rd party software (e.g., Java, Adobe Acrobat) updates, typically executing this task at 5 pm.  We scan your systems for all applicable software packages and apply pre-approved updates tested in our lab environment.  When we discover valid updates, the upgrade process is performed behind the scenes to prevent any interruptions should you be actively working on the target computer.

In most cases, especially with Windows Updates, a reboot is required after the task completes.  We present a pop-up notification that iTecs has made changes to your system and a reboot is required.  You can click YES to perform the reboot or NO to silence the warning.  The update execution time and the reboot required notification message can be customized for your organization or on a per computer basis.

For company servers and network devices such as routers, firewalls, and switches, we custom tailor a forced reboot schedule to ensure the updates are successfully applied but only when users don’t depend on the server for business processes.

Patches/hotfixes/firmware updates are applied to all applicable hardware/software platforms. We have a test environment with a mixture of common appliances and computers found in the workplace, we apply all patches/updates and firmware updates to this test environment as an extra precaution prior to pushing those updates on your systems.

What does preventative maintenance mean?

A computer requires certain tasks to be performed regularly to ensure stability, longevity and persistent performance. This includes servers, desktops, laptops, and tablets (e.g., Surface Pro).  Just like our update processes, we schedule our maintenance tasks at 5 pm for workstations and 11 pm for servers and network devices.

We perform a series of tasks including:

  • System health checks – we monitor your computers logs and system resources for any anomalies or potential issues.
  • Defragmentation of the data stored on the hard drive – programs run faster and more efficiently when the data is grouped together for easier access.
  • Deletion of temporary and log files – this reduces the amount of data stored on your hard drive by removing files that accumulate automatically over time.
  • Virus/Adware/Spyware scans – It’s important to run full system scans to ensure your data and privacy stay protected.
